iPlantop CM1500 Full Spectrum LED Grow Light with CREE LEDs & MeanWell Driver - 150W Indoor Plant Growing Lamp for Vegetables, Flowers, Hydroponics | Daisy Chain Function for Greenhouse & Grow Tent Use

I've been using the iPlantop Daisy Chain 1500w LED grow light now for 6 weeks, purchased through Amazon, and am well satisfied. I wanted to upgrade my old 2x48 inch fluorescent Gro-Lux light for my houseplants and vegetable seeds in the basement. I chose this model because: 1 - seemed to offer a good balance of features and capability for the price. 2 - had 504 LEDs in a rectangular lightboard vs a smaller number with smaller area for some competitive units, and I wanted the light to cover as wide an area as possible. 3 - I wanted a full-spectrum light, not the red/blue combination of less expensive LED systems. I wanted to judge accurately the state/color of the plants. 4 - I thought the design was well thought out, with good thick materials, adequate thermal design to transfer the waste heat to the substantial aluminum reflector/heat sink, thus avoiding the need for noisy fans. As a chemical engineer I appreciate good design when I see it. 5 - A liberal return (90 days) and warranty (4 years) policy, indicating both quality construction and a company that stands behind their product. 6 - included a dimmer and flexible mounting hardware, so I can easily adjust it to suit the needs of my space and plants. 7 - included a short aluminum reflector, which could prevent the very bright light from shining in my eyes when I'm around the unit in operation, and also to improve the efficiency of light usage. This was a problem with my old fluorescent fixture, which had an inadequate reflector. 8 - manufacturer specs of high efficiency for plant growth, which is a function of both intensity, LED efficiency, and design of the LEDs themselves. This unit combines four different types of LEDs at different wavelengths to provide optimum growth response for plants. Comments after use: The unit was shipped quickly, and was extremely well packaged. It was complete, showed high quality components, all in good working order as described, had good instructions and easy to set up. I found the best setting for my situation was to raise it up 36 inches from my table surface, and operate it at 75% output. I am getting 500 to 1000 foot-candles of light intensity at the table surface, more as you go higher for tall plants, which is what I wanted. It easily covers a 3 ft x 4 ft table. Unlike some reviews I've read on Amazon, mine did not include a timer or humidity meter (none was promised by the manufacturer's packing list, but some reviewers reported their shipment including these items). However, the manufacturer has been very responsive by email answering my questions (I had a question about proper height above the plants) and later send me a timer unit as a free gift, which was very nice of them. My advice to those who only have experience with fluorescent grow lights is to recognize that these LED units can put out a lot more light for the same power, and not to put the lights as close to the upper leaves as you did with the old fluorescent tubes. I at first had some upper leaves dry out, until I realized that and raised the light up - not from the heat, but because of the light intensity. Overall I am very pleased by this unit, in all respects - price/value, features, performance, and support. I should have purchased one of these years ago. Looking forward to starting my garden seedlings soon under the light.Being a child of the Sixties, growing your own was as important as rolling your own. Of course, none of us really knew what were doing those decades ago, often sprinkling a few seeds in mom’s flower bed or putting some in a flower pot under our college desk lamp. My, my, have things come a long way. Meet the 1500w IPlantop LED grow light.Most of us have gotten to enjoy the results of the technology explosions over the last few years—computers, cell phones, the Internet. Similar advances have come to the grow light technology as well, and I just discovered a great example.Of course the important part of a grow light is well, the light itself. The iPlantop has a reflective hood covering a redesigned bank of bulbs that have exact combination of colors that all the folks much smarter than I am say works the absolute best in each phase of growing. Almost as cool is the fact these new LEDs are just that—cool. No fan required, no chasing ideal temperatures because of the heat from the lamps or adjusting the distance from the leaves. This new combination of light bulbs also produces a much more sunlight/natural color temperature, which is so pleasant when it’s time to top or FIM. My old lights turned the grow room into an alien landscape (lots of red & purple—see the photo with the new iPlantop light in the foreground and one of my old grow lights in the back). The lights are also on a dimmer (first I’ve seen in a grow light) that allows you to control just how much light you squirt on your plants. Early stages need/want less light than the flowering stage. The iPlantop also gives me a 4’x3’ footprint of light, which is better than my previous lights. All this for an electrical draw about on par with the light bulb in my closet.And speaking of previous lights, one of the really great things about this product is that you can daisy chain up to five lights together. That means that one timer and one source of electricity is all I need thanks to this awesome feature.If all this isn’t quite enough to convince you to get yourself the best light out there for the money, get this: the iPlantop comes with a 48-month warranty. Believe it or don’t.I’m sure technology will march on and someday there will be better grow lights. But right now, I think this one is a good as it gets.
