Originating in the Middle East and then Europe, Hollyhock is a lovely plant that has been cherished by flower lovers for centuries. Towering in the garden with large brilliant flowers and soft green fuzzy leaves, this plant has a storybook-like charm. It has been a long-time garden favorite loved for its unique appearance and ease of growing. Though it is considered an annual, the hollyhock plant will reseed and act as a perennial blessing your garden with its cheerful blossoms every year. Beautiful, large vibrant flowers Tall, study stalks Easy to grow, prolific once established Our Seeds are Non-GMO, Open Pollinated, and Heirloom Hollyhock can grow to be 6-8ft tall and 1-2 feet wide. Though you can start the seeds indoors, they can also be sown directly into the soil in the fall or a week or so prior to the last frost. Hollyhock is a resilient, drought-tolerant plant, but does appreciate partial sun and regular watering, especially during germination. If you do not wish for the plant to spread or reseed simply cut back to the base after flowering. Plants have low water and fertility requirements; trellising is optional if watering is done in moderation. We are in grow zone 6b and I've never grown holly hocks before. I started the seeds indoors on a modest grow setup in mid February. The plants are slow growers but in the 5th month saw a huge growth spurt. The foliage is very lush so watch your plant spacing. They finally started blooming and are gorgeous.
