How should the net be hung? When hanging net make sure the mesh is uniformly square-shaped. This maintains the strength and integrity of the net. It is easiest to attach one of the short sides, then attach the two long sides. Alternating between the sides, maintaining the square mesh the entire length of the net. We use supports every eight feet, lengthwise and widthwise, with cable over the supports. There are many ways to install netting, but if you follow these instructions, you will have a sturdy set-up that lasts. Nylon Our polyethylene nets have UV inhibitors in the individual fibers, that are then twisted or braided into twine. This enables them to withstand the sunlight for much longer than nylon, and maintain its strength. What About Snow and Ice? We recommend using Heavy knotted, X-Heavy knotted, or Heavy knitted in areas with heavy snowfall or ice accumulation. Wintry weather may stick to the net and need to be knocked down. The knotted netting has less surface area for the snow and/or ice to accumulate, but both the heavy knitted and knotted netting are strong and resilient enough to withstand winter weather. What Size of Net Will Work for You? In our movable chicken coop (pictured) we use a 12.5 ft x 25 ft knitted net, we use a larger size to account for the slope. If you are going to use the netting for a flat roof, then if the size of the net is greater than the size of the roof you have the correct size net. If your netting will have a slope like ours, then we recommend going a size up, and cutting off any excess net you may have. How the netting should be installed. The picture above shows how the netting should look. Just stretch it out horizontally until those diamonds become squares. Now it should be the correct dimensions, and this look should be maintained as it is installed in order for your net to be at its full strength and looking its best. How the netting looks when it's unpackaged. The poultry netting is packaged stretched out, because that is the way it is manufactured. When it is first taken out of the box or bag it will appear to be longer and thinner than it actually is, and the mesh will look like the diamonds pictured above.

So far material is holding up really good. Though material. Yes it does catch and hang on everything but end result is worth it. Patients is truly a virtue putting this netting up. Make sure to make your chicken run to the sizes available taking into account the over hang on each side. I did 5 feet on each side and it was perfect.
