Umbrella Plant (Cyperus Alternifolius) - Umbrella Plant, also called the Umbrella Palm, is a unique tropical plant that is well-suited as an ornamental water plant. It bears clusters of green stems topped off by green bracts arranged like umbrella spokes. It does best in full sun or partial shade. It does well indoors, and there it likes to be kept soaking wet at all times. It is easily grown in a dish of water. Without enough water, brown spots will form on the leaves. Start the seed indoors in pre-moistened soil. Press the seed into the soil and lightly cover. Keep the seeds continuously moist and shielded from direct sunlight. Darkness is needed for germination. With temperatures 68 - 72F, germination is usually within 15 days.

I got these seeds in the mail I planted them immediately. I have a warming pad for remembering seeds. I kept them very moist. I thought they were duds because they didn't grow. Finally after about a month and a half to two months they finally we're growing. They grew extremely slow which is not a characteristic of the umbrella planet. When they finally got tall enough that I could really get an idea of what it was I could see it's just a grass. It's not even an umbrella plant at all. Don't waste your money on these seeds they're not what they say they are. I planted them three times and I got the same grass that grew really slowly. Definitely not an umbrella plant.
