The Golden Crookstem is hardy down to -10°, making it probably the hardiest of all the yellows. Its completely yellow culms are sometimes streaked with green at base. Like some of the other crookstems, this one turns red to mahogany when the culms are exposed to sunny locations. Also, like the other Crookstems, it too gets the occasionally zigzagging pattern in its culms. The Golden Crookstem makes an excellent hedge, screen, wind break or container plant.
