Showed no signs of any stress. Very sturdy packing and protection. Soil damp and not at all dry. Planted in zone 7b, and will protect in harsher winters. We have very hot summers, abd many months above 70, which is what the tree likes if you expect fruit. The one i received was 54” including the root ball. Easily 4 ft tall once planted.Tips: plant in full sun. Allow space for root growth up to 15 feet diameter, and 20 foot height. I planted mine 30 feet from my house eaves. Make sure it has drainage. Dig hole slightly wider than root ball, and same depth. The top of ball should be same as surrounding area. I added a thin layer of loose rock at bottom for drainage. You don't need fertilizer or anything special. Water , then slightly tamp the soil but do not mash or compact tightly.Mine came with a cane pole, and rubber ties, which I will keep until established and trunk sturdy.Update Oct 20 - adding 3rd photo showing how well it’s grown. The stake is same in all photos and unchanged. We’ve had a hotter summer than usual, and dryer, so I’ve watered most everyday or every other. I trained a few branches using burlap cord and mild tension. I will leaf mulch and protect this winter. Extremely pleased.
